gordo jiu jitsu academy reciprocal with fama singapore

We are honoured to welcome Gordo Jiu Jitsu Academy in Weston, Florida to our reciprocal academy program.

Professor to Zoro and Thiago, Roberto “Gordo” Correa de Lima started training Jiu-Jitsu in 1986, at the age of 15, influenced by his close friend Ralph Gracie. A purple belt at 18 years old, he suffered a serious knee injury and had to readapt to training, therefore developing the famous half-guard position and becoming known as the "king of the half-guard." Nowadays this is one of the most used positions in both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.

Please join us in welcoming BJJ Assistant Instructor, Ollie, to the FaMA team.

Promoted to Black Belt just last year by Professor Zoro, you can find Ollie on the mats every weekday afternoon helping out the students, sharing his no-gi techniques all the while impressing everyone with his highly technical style.

Originally from the UK, Ollie has been living in Asia since 2007. He started training BJJ in Hong Kong in 2012, under Carlson Gracie Sr. World Masters Champion Rodrigo Medeiros, to get into shape after many years of trying various sports that did not provide the same physical and mental workout that BJJ does.

Over the years Ollie has medalled several times in the IBJJF Asian Open and Copa De Hong Kong Masters Divisions. Outside of BJJ Ollie loves surfing and snowboarding where he holds an Avalanche Skills Level 2 certification.

"I've trained at a few gyms in Singapore, and FAMA is by far the most professionally run. Expert (and I mean world-champ) instructors, who also happen to be excellent teachers. I think at least a dozen other black belts who are very generous with their time to help you develop. Mature and relaxed (or as relaxed as you can be in combat sports) fellow members - both in BJJ and Muay Thai." - Pratyush
